Pink is a color; it stands out and is very popular despite not being part of the official rainbow. For many, it represents femininity. Pink is often associated with girls, romance, and youth. Similar to blue, pink is a color directly associated with gender, which can be something a person embraces or resents.

As a child, my favorite color was pink. I was the little girl with dresses and bows, all color-coded in pink. Then there came the time when pink was seen as uncool and babyish, and I felt forced to grow out of it. The social pressure got to me. It didn’t help that pink had developed a bad reputation for being gender stereotyped towards females. Many of my friends wanted to break out of that as well and targeted colors such as blue and green. I tried to do the same, but my heart was never into it. I missed pink.

Over the years, I realized it does not matter what other people think; I can love pink if I want to. I can embrace being feminine, whether I identify as a girl or not. Pink has become so much more than a color for me now. It is my lifestyle, my constant need for self-improvement, for romanticizing life, and for staying organized in all aspects, such as school as well as hobbies. It is about loving yourself, having a good mindset, and taking care of your mental wellbeing. Pink is reclaiming myself, becoming the person I want to be, and living the life I want to live. I am the main character. I am in control.

This is pink, the lifestyle. Welcome! Come along as I strive to become the best and healthiest version of myself. I hope to inspire you to do the same.
